What is the procedure of getting official email?

You must be a current member of the University of Chittagong Class-3 Employee in an eligible department to have an email account administered and/or provided by ICT Cell. Class-3 Employees have to complete the training course from ICT Cell, CU at first step.

Very important. After the creation of email, email applicant will get an email at his/her existing-alternate email's (Inbox or Spam Folder) for their new password set-link and it will be valid for 48 hours only.

** After submitting this form, you will get an autogenerated email from ICT cell, University of Chittagong
** After successful creation of your academic email, you will get an email from The Google Workspace Team (workspace-noreply@google.com) containing subject "You have a new Google account for University of Chittagong". Please set your password and also set a recovery email in case you forget your password later.
** Please wait 1-2 working days (max) for your academic email to be created. If you do not get an email from The Google Workspace Team, then please contact shimul.ict@cu.ac.bd

Go to gmail app and click add account option. Give email and password and wait for couple of seconds. Then you are good to go.

Never add academic/official email to your android user accounts manually or gmail app directly. 
It will be added automatically if you follow the instructions below.

Before you begin

  • To get started, you need a Google Workspace account and an Android device.
  • These instructions are for users with Pixel devices running Android 8.0 Oreo or later. If you have a different device, setup might vary. 

Use these steps if your device prompts you to install or update the Android Device Policy app, the Google Apps Device Policy app, or a work profile.

The Google Apps Device Policy app is deprecated and no longer supported. To ensure that Android users can continue to use Google Workspace, they must install the Android Device Policy app.

This app allows your administrator to manage your device and control some settings.
  1. At the prompt, tap Install.
  2. Tap Install.
  3. Tap Accept & continue to create a work profile on the device.
  4. Tap Next and follow the prompts to set up your work profile. 
  5. If prompted, tap Start and follow the steps to set a screen lock for your device.
  6. Tap Installand thenNext to install work apps. 
  7. Tap Done.  

If you created a work profile on your device, work apps are marked with a Briefcase "". You might see work apps on your home screen. You can also access all work apps from your work profile. 

  1. To access all apps, swipe up.
  2. Tap Work.

Please open google playstore app within work profile marked with a Briefcase "".

Then install gmail app and you are good to go. You can switch back and forth between your personal email and academic/official email.
